Having made a lasting impression with her flawless solo debut 'beggars belief' last month, our admiration for sm^sher (aka Imogen Mason) has exponentially multiplied with the arrival of 'the reaction'. Self-described as "brash, relentless, and destructive," the unexpectedly industrial offering reveals an entirely different side of Mason's songwriting style as techno beats pulse punishingly beneath maxed-out synth bass and cool vocals. Interrupting the rhythm with left-field interludes and off-the-wall lyricism, the piece captures the essence of "trying to disrupt your reality and change your circumstances in the most dramatic way you can."
